Common questions

Does my data sync between my iPhone and iPad?

Yes — if you're signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive enabled, your budgets and expenses sync across your devices through your own private iCloud account. No account or sign-up is needed.

Where is my data stored?

On your device, and in your personal iCloud (Apple's private CloudKit database). It's never sent to the developer or any third party. See the Privacy Policy.

My data isn't syncing.

Make sure you're signed in to iCloud (Settings → your name), that iCloud Drive is on, and that iCloud is enabled for SimpleSelfBudget (Settings → your name → iCloud). Sync also needs a network connection.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Settings → Import & Export lets you export all expenses as a CSV file, and import from CSV.

How do recurring expenses work?

Mark an expense as recurring and a copy is added automatically at the start of each month. Manage them under Insights → Recurring Expenses.

How do I set a category budget?

On the Expenses tab, add a budget for any category and set its monthly limit. The overview shows spent, remaining, and percentage at a glance.
